I’m not going to go into it too far. Somewhere long ago is a much downvotes post where I lay out that essentially- using the internal rules they set up- the last film was entertaining but a big let down for me because they pretty much made it so that the stakes were almost 0 and almost nothing that would happen would matter. A large part of the appeal of the marvel films was that they at least played at some level of realism and consequences/continuity. The last film invalidates that. They brought people back from the dead, traveled through time and changed events, showed that identical or near identical realities exist.... time now has no meaning except to the person experiencing it. In other words- they could easily have Tony or Natasha or anyone else back if they wanted. It’s...
I’m not going down that road again. It doesn’t actually matter if they got snapped or not. If they got snapped then those avengers or whoever else could then go around trying to fix it the exact same way or whatever other way. Thanos could have a heart attack, or just decide he wants to give up and found kpop boy band. Infinite possibilities are now cannon- so statistically everything that could happen has happened somewhere. Your emotional investment to any single iteration of reality is sentimental and doesn’t actually matter.
They haven't actually shown the ramifications of all that yet; and it's not going to be pretty when they do. I mean, Wanda is probably going to go full-blown House of M, Dormammu will come back, the nightmare dimension will become a thing... they might finally put the Darkhold in the film universe, Chthon being awoken, the Eternals remembering who they are, possibly explain why vampires exist once Blade comes around, and hopefully Shuma Gorath shows up. My issue is the rules don't make sense unless you totally ignore what Cap did at the end.
