Most women just look for lumps but there is many signs of breast cancer. In my teens I would get shooting pains and my doctor told my parents that might be breast cancer. It felt like being struck by lightning. Luckily after many tests I turned out to be fine. The doctor than explain to me all the signs that can tell you you might have breast cancer.
I was shocked that it went well past just a lump. But it was due to that day that my mom was able to tell a doctor about her cancer so soon. Sadly though she did get fully recovered from breast cancer the fucking doctors didn’t think to check if the cancer spread to other parts of her body and it spread to her brain. Which sadly took her.

My mom's symptom was the second. She was putting gel in her hair after showering she noticed an indentation on her breast. Mammogram came back negative, ultrasound came back negative, biopsy came back negative. Doctor said, I don't trust these results, go get a second opinion from a cancer center. Second biopsy came back positive. Stage 2 malignant globular carcinoma.
NEW fluid. New. Old fluid is fine. New fluid is a sign of cancer.
.
I'm gonna go on a limb and say if your breast is producing ANY fluid at any time not related to breastfeeding, you probably have a problem, houston
Not always. Some women produce a small amount of fluid (unrelated to breast feeding or cancer). If this is a normal situation for that woman, it’s nothing to be alarmed by, but if you don’t and you start, it’s worth looking into.

There are also some forms of birth control that can cause lactation, as my friend found out
Lactation = related to breast feeding. But in either case something was, indeed, wrong. In her case, her medication was causing something to happen than really shouldn't have been, and it was best to get in checked out.
.
And I say again - if your breasts at any time are producing any fluid not related to breast feeding, you probably have a problem, and should definitely get it checked out to find out what the actual scope of the problem is
Sure best to be safe. That’s why it says “new fluid” because if you are one of the “50-80% of women in their reproductive years who experience nipple discharge” and have had it examined, you only need to address it again if that fluid changes.
It is in fact, very normal for women (in their reproductive years) to experience some fluid discharge. [source: ncbi. nlm. nih. gov ]
