I have begun the imagine T Rex as a Kangaroo type animal. Boxing with it's legs while balancing on its tail.

but they were lizards....lizards today don't have fur or feathers so why would giant prehistoric lizards have them

They've already discovered fossils proving a fair few dinosaurs had feathers, velociraptors included. Some evidence suggests dosaurs were more closely related to birds than lizards

The difference is we have dinosaurs alive TODAY for reference. They are called crocodiles.
