Kinda? I mean- most things that are “easy” aren’t really considered special right? So say a person works super hard and still looks very out together- that either will give you the perception that A: they put care and effort into themselves and have the discipline and time management to do a hard job but still look sharp- or B: that what is usually a hard job- isn’t for them.

The second one is an “old school” way of thinking called: “never let them see you hustle, never let them see you run.” Modern career/social texts often say to show some level of difficulty in a task even if it is easy for you- that way you can make yourself look like a person who is working hard. Old timers believed the opposite- we were taught that you should try to make hard jobs look easy, if everyone else struggles and you don’t- you seem “better” than them. Both ideas have merit.

But to the point of the meme- is it really so hard to look sharp of you have done a lot of work? Depends on the work no? A wealthy person can pay people to help them look sharp, to clean and iron clothes, do their hair or makeup and so on. A person who’s work isn’t manual labor or dirty work- it’s much easier for them to look sharp since they can more easily keep themselves neat if they simply apply a little effort in the morning no?
