Legal marriage and marriage through religion as recognized by ones “god(s)” are not intrinsically linked. For example- many religions will hold ceremonies which within the faith or for its members are binding- but in the eyes of the law are not legal. Polygamy in certain Mormon sects is a classic example. It’s also true that a marriage can e legally recognized in one part of the world, but not another. Examples of this include homosexual marriage (which even in recent times was only recognized by certain places within one country like the United States by others-) or for example- if a citizen of a country like the US which has 18 as the age of consent married a 15 year old in a country where such marriages are legal.

There is also the fact that if we assumed the story of Genesis was 100% true- there was no government entity to not only grant marriage rights in their time let alone process and keep records- but there were literally only 2 people. There would be no human witnesses or other common factors required for legal marriages in most places. IF we all agree for this discussion the details are correct- if there was God and no government- God would have any and all authority in addition to absolute authority- and intended Adam and Eve to procreate- and thus we can assume if they weren’t “married in the eyes of God” they at least were doing what their God wanted and thus were not sinning. One of the conveniences of early Genesis narratives is there isn’t ambiguity to the will of God as God spoke directly to the living humans.

But- finally find me my Great Grandmothers birth certificate. It doesn’t exist. It was so old that it disintegrated. Literally. While she was still alive. Finding any records from even a couple thousand years ago is difficult. Given no one has ever located “the garden of Eden” and we could presume the documents might be kept there- or at least where Adam and Eve supposedly settled when having been kicked out of they had the time to gather their things- and we also haven’t found that- the fact is asking for such a document at least 6,000 years (by some religious narratives) and if we use science and say they were real people- tens of thousands of years ago... is stupid.

Tl:Dr- show me the marriage certificate of the Greek heroes. Do such a thing existed it is long gone. Records from ancient history can be hard to come by. If they were kept, and if they weren’t poorly kept- things deteriorate with age, get thrown out (the DMV doesn’t have records from 60 years ago most of the time let alone 1,000+ do they?) but if your mom hasn’t found your weed or your porn, if your husband or boyfriend can’t find your “g-spot”.... does that mean it doesn’t exist? Can’t prove it exists- can’t say it doesn’t can we? It’s less clever and more.... ignorant is perhaps the best word- of at least foolish.

Not to mention Eve was made out of Adam's rib. This is no ordinary incest. This is... advanced incest.
