I agree, was warned by someone who grew up in France not to bother with the Louvre and particularly the Mona Lisa when I went to Paris and I ignored them.
Queued for hours to get in, the room where the Mona Lisa is was crammed with people, literally like being in the front of a concert with everyone pushing to get closer and the painting itself is a lot smaller than I realised so unless you join in the pushing you don't get a great view.
Leave it and go to the Orangerie nearby instead with all of Monet's waterlilies paintings.
