When I was growing up we lived in the city but as a little kid I lived in a itty bitty country Texas town. So when we moved back to my hometown it was no big deal to me about the sounds coming from our family pasture at night behind our house. I used to sit out there on the porch and just listen to the wind and sounds of country life. I loved it.
My 2 youngest brothers on the other hand lmfao lived their whole life in the city suburbs and knew nothing of those sounds I was enjoying. It scared the shit out of them lol. They were 10 and 12.
My Uncle Buck who lived next door decided to “help” my parents keep the younger ones out of the wooded areas by telling them there was things called Ka-Koo-E in the woods that come out when it starts to get dark and if you are not home they will snatch you and drag you to their den and eat you.
Really no one wanted them to wonder off and get killed by the wild boars, bob cats, coyotes, and other dangerous animals in the pasture.
One day my 2nd to youngest brother was by this time 14 and was walking home from our uncles house and it got dark. There was this big light pole in the dead center of our uncle’s acre and half long front yard. It was all grass, flat, no wooded area, just grass and that light pole. Than a coyote howled and my brother stopped dead in his tracks under that light and cried and cried. He was far to scared to go back to our uncle’s or home. It was at least a 5 minute walk both ways but he was glued to the safety of the light lol.
My parents called my uncle to see if my brother ever went home he said over an hour ago. They go look out side and there he was still crying under the light. My Dad had to go get him and he refused to move till my dad PICKED HIS 14 YEAR OLD ASS UP AND CARRIED HIM HOME!!!
Lmfao we had to break it to him that it was never real. He still to this day won’t go walking in that pasture near sun down and he is 32 years old!
When you’re in the middle of no where Texas and hear a lion roar you better not go the fuck outside to see it. Fuck only knows if it’s escaped and ready to eat your dumbass
