This is very real and is part of the reason I have been using yes and no so bluntly. There's a finality in it.... especially when you get the one you didn't expect. Like... say you ask me a question you expect me to just acknowledge, reply and never think twice about; the moment you get whacked with a blunt "yes" or "no", it's going to make you re-examine not just the question, but the when and the why of it.
