You can use London broil or bottom round (the least expensive steaks) and teriyaki sauce or whatever rubs you like. You'll need a food dehydrator or a smoker.

Just cut the steak in to strips and marinate it or hit it with rub. Then smoke/dehydrate it. Smoking it is what I do, and I use a harsher wood, like hickory.

Instead of $8 for a large package of jerky, you're spending right around $2 on this.

Well, it isn't cheap or quick to making your own decent jerky. Good or excelent? That's going to be even more money and time practicing getting your technique down.
