I feel like you lose the element of surprise though if you have to fling your entire arm out in front of you? Also people will inevitably mistake you for a nazi
But nobody’s talking about bows.
Those things were the most deadly weapon in a battle, especially if they had armour-piercing heads (that were quite heavy so damn guy who uses it is jacked)
Bows also make a swoosh noise, but overall, yeah, probably the most deadly weapon conceived before nukes. I mean... Genghis Khan took over Asia not with a genius postal service, nor the horse (those aided the mobility), but with a re-curved bow. Even now it's nearly impossible to recreate one; that's how secretive they were about it. It involves a ratio of horse hair and placement only a few people on Earth know.
Pole-arms were probably one of the most crucial of all weapon forms in medieval and earlier battle. But they are rarely talked about. Even roman legions which championed short swords and shields extensively used pole-arms. As a whole they were easy to use. Easy to make and cheaper to field than just about any other weapon.
Or something like that.
