Yes, the eye color of juvenile Corvus brachyrhynchos (American crow) change from blue to dark brown as they mature

I've always been told blue eyes were the way to differentiate crows from Coloeus monedula (western jackdaw)! How do you tell them apart then? (besides calling "crow!" and watching who comes)

Well, technically, a western jackdaw is a crow, or at least related to them, they do resemble the hooded crow a bit, but they have shorter bill, blue eyes and are noticeably smaller than most crow species, the hooded crow has dark brown eyes, and very pronounced ash grey feathers
