Can you believe some jokers think that's happening stateside? Amazing how little some people actually know about law enforcement and political ideologies.
I'm especially glad I don't gotta worry about the shit the Chinese people worry about.
The first one is provably and documented as happening. As to motivations and all that- separate issue. #1 is true.
The second one is arguable and a matter of opinion as fact is mixed on what is reality, and we can’t say for certain what a pesos. THINKS unless they say so. So #2 is not testable and should be rephrased.
3 is provable as well. Again- motivations, logic, etc. all irrelevant. It has it his occurring. However the semantics are we can again argue phrasing- as “attack” and “manipulate” are not the same words.
4. Is completely false. People are dying because of a virus. We have more, but few other countries even with leaders less contentious than ours escaped Scott free. People are dying because of a virus, because of their choices, and then some percent are dying as results of decisions made by the executives of our government- but that is a score to at most- incompetence, not fascism.
5 is again- false. They aren’t secret police, they are a ministry of the interior. There is a difference. Secret police obscure their reach and tend to use discretion and not operate in the open. So while having a single interior police force with broad jurisdictions and reach, and very loose definitions of when, where, or how they may exercise their powers in the broad mission of protecting America without any real definitions on how or from what; who pretty much are beholden to the president without any checks or balances on their deployment beyond budgetary oversight by congress- that itself is pretty scary- but not secret police. 4 is inaccurate and imprecise.
As for China- we don’t have most of what China has to deal with. China didn’t either. Nor did Iran or North Korea or Cuba or the USSR or... so on. Freedom sometimes disappears in a single coup- but often it is eroded as chuckle heads look on and talk about how violations of fundamental principals of checks and balances and jurisdiction, how having massive agencies with broad missions and powers and little accountability- how those things are just peachy. Of course- the meme itself leans hard left and ignores facts for emotional sensationalism. Neither is a very good look for a nation.
Secret police don't wear badges and numbers letting you know who they are. Secret police don't release their captives after questioning them about the riots they were partaking in to destroy a federal courthouse. Nothing damages our democratic process like allowing anyone who crosses the border to fill out for the census, vote in elections both federal and state.
I hope people associate me with @xvarnah, @cakelover, and yourself. We're all generally on the same side, and I love how you all can explain your viewpoints clearly and concisely in manners I hope to one day match.
I certainly can't complain about the company, though I honestly don't know how I got over here haha. I fekking hate politics.
.
I don't really consider myself on a "side." When something doesn't make sense or is just factually WRONG (and often hypocritical), than I think people can and SHOULD bring it up. Regardless of politics, regardless of race, regardless of whatever else. Oddly giving people preferential treatment has managed to get me labelled an istaphobe more than I ever anticipated, but what ya gonna do?
.
I think you hold your own quite well tbh @famousone, and you often get your point across; I think people have just gotten so used to writing you off because they disagree with you many of them don't even actually consider what you're actually saying, vs what they've DECIDED you're saying
I think I gotta bead on you. You just want people to be left alone and held to the same standards and discipline, no? I wholly expect that there are subjects we all would be on different sides of, but largely we seem to come from the same good place.
I am glad to hear that I sound better to others than to myself, and I think you may be right about people writing me off.

Within minutes of you commenting on this post you got downvoted. They're definitely writing you off.
Honestly, if you'd talked to me a few years ago I would have been far less... idk. Open to live and let live I guess? At least on some issues haha.
.
I don't know that everyone should be held to the same standards on every issue necessarily (age old adage of equality vs what's fair)... struggling to think of a good example. Failing.
.
.
That's the beauty about it, though - we don't HAVE to be on the same side of every issue. We can actually agree to disagree. [though I'll admit I am horrible at that sometimes... been known to even get trigger happy and go off on people because I get frustrated <_< gotta work on that]
.
Sometimes even just walking away and meeting up somewhere else where we CAN get on is the proper solutio n
Tbh my impression of your comments is that you usually start with a comment that sounds very pro-whatever issue you're talking about, without a lot of elaboration.
.
Not necessarily a bad thing.
.
Then people see it's you. And that's the first mistake, because you should know better than to have an opinion while being you - people don't like that.
.
Anyway, that clears out the first 2 - 3 downvote stalkers.
.
Other people then decide the entirety of your stance for you, before getting elaboration. And they fire back with a loaded comment in return, often in a very confrontational manner.
.
Case in point: when you said you wouldn't mind going golfing with trump or w/e.
.
Several people instantly went to: he is SUCH a die-hard Trump groupie he wants to follow him around and do everything with him etc etc.
.
In reality I believe you were just saying something about how you appreciate his tactics as a business person, and wanted to observe/learn a bit more from the man himself
But doesn't matter what you meant, because people have already pegged you 6-ways to Sunday and start circling the wagons.
.
That's just something I feel I've noticed a few times in conversation you've had. And there's not necessarily anything you can do about it either - because it's not necessarily you whose being unclear.
.
... this turned a lot longer than i thought. Apologies - I get rambly when I'm tired.
.
Point is: I think you have clear convictions, and you defend them well, but people often (either deliberately or otherwise) misinterpret what you were getting at. And then they exacerbate the issue by never giving you an opportunity to clarify anything they might be confused on.
And @grimreaper it's no joke lol. I've literally seen his comments get downvoted within 3 seconds of making them on more than one occasion. Not that it's really important - I think I notice his downvotes more than he does haha.
.
Annoys me for no other reason than I know they've taken their personal idiocy and made it into a problem they're determined to take out on him
I get what you're saying about catching us a few years ago.
Go far back enough in my history and I was just your standard neocon. Still a hooah as fuck American patriot, though.
And yeah, it's nice to have sensible disagreements and enduring good faith discourse.
You get the gist of my politically charged comments, I actually remember the golf one pretty well. I was saying that it would be a good opportunity to network with some of the movers and shakers in industry and politics. I stand by that sentiment still.
And I do notice the downvotes and insults. I don't mind DVs on the whole, but it hurts that people do it out of hand. I don't mind the silent or argumentative ones so much, but the dismissive ones sting.
Just means we've grown up some haha. I cringe to think of some of the things I used to say. Some of the things I still DO say. Guest_ has a habit of triggering me at times. Which is not his fault by any accounts.
.
Honestly, often enough these days I find myself being forced to defend things I don't like remotely, because I can see the injustice behind the behaviour attacking whatever that may be. I know I've said it before, but as a tried and true example: I don't like Trump. Don't necessarily agree with or like a lot of the things he says or does. Wouldn't have voted for him back during the election. But me disliking him doesn't automatically make everything he does or says wrong. And it's alarming to me how many people will actively advocate for the opposite agenda simply because it's against HIM.
.
They don't seem to realize that's as tyrannical and insane as the very crimes they accuse him of.
I don't see the point or value in railroading everything else in existence simply out of spite. If that means I'm regarded as a "klansman" and whatever else, so be it.
.
And yeah, haha. Admittedly my knee-jerk reaction to the golf comment was "WHY would you want to do that??" But you had a reason - and it's a valid reason, and it had nothing to do with simping for "orange-man" as they say. Hopefully at some point you do get the opportunity to brush elbows with some of these people, if for no other reason than to learn.
.
.
As for the DVs - you never seemed bothered by them before. But I can definitely see why it WOULD. Same reason it bothers me that they're doing it, tbh. For what it's worth, the DVs are part of what got me reading your comments a little closer. I kept trying to figure out what in hell you'd said that had pissed people off so egregiously. Never could find it.
.
Don't let them get you down. They're simply people who can't justify their disdain, but lack the self-control to move past it, either.
.
Your opinions have enough weight to have earned you a funsub stalker or two. And if that's not flattering as hell, that's only because it's kind of creepy and sad
.
You do seem to be opening up a bit more in your comments lately to me, though. Or maybe not "opening-up.". Idk, I feel like I'm seeing you post a bit more laid-back at times, and on different types of posts. Maybe I'm wrong. Either way it was a good thing to see/hallucinate
It's a common sentiment on much of the American right wing "Stop making me defend Trump". There's a lot going on that I don't like, but there's some things we cannot afford to compromise on or allow to gain any momentum, and that makes it difficult to argue finer and more nuanced positions.
As for the golf thing, I like to think of myself as a pragmatic man, I am not rich or smart enough to pass up any opportunity or learning experience.
I'm glad that I get something good out of the downvotes, conversations with you honestly make my day brighter.
And I'm glad you have noticed me trying to branch out, especially in times like these I want more varied and positive interactions. Life ain't going great, to be honest.
That's really depressing haha. You'd think people would clue in..
.
Admittedly I am not as well versed in politics as I need to be. I know more than did a few years ago, but that's not enough. All I can say is I can see now why Trump was elected in the first place. And it wasn't because of "oh it'll be FUNNY." Or at least not entirely.
.
It IS pragmatic. Doesn't matter if a person is the worst person on the planet in someone's eyes... they may still have something valid to contribute. Ignoring that doesn't benefit anyone in most circumstances.
.
I have no idea about your richness (not asking either), but you seem smart enough to me. I mean, hell, you can handle medical shit, and that's certainly more than I could do. Plus you're clearly capable of critical thinking etc
.
i'm honestly glad to hear that haha. Tbh I was having a shitty day and talking to you helped boost my spirits a bit too.
.
I did indeed haha. Surprised me at first, because I couldn't recall seeing you on many posts that weren't semi politically charged much in the past. I'm glad you're branching out a bit if for no other reason than, again, it's nice to see you have a bit more laid back interactions
Hopefully whatever is happening on your end isn't too serious?
.
[Side note: low-key enjoying that we accidentally hijacked this post and turned it into something somewhat more ironic and upbeat haha.]
