What could be spookier than German nationalism? Plenty of things, I'd imagine (like Oktoberfest being cancelled because of COVID). Germany has certainly had its ups and downs throughout its long history, and it's definitely come a long way in recent years. This is especially true since the fall of the Berlin Wall and German Reunification, which is what this holiday celebrates in addition to being the German National Day. So let's raise our beer mugs high and toast: "Auf die Deutsche Einheit!"
