So it seems the breed was developed with this exact purpose in mind. Guess my dream of developing a Pizzahund isn't as farfetched as my wife thinks. Thanks for the encouragement.
The lundehund is an ancient breed made for hunting puffins, however, as we developed different hunting methods, the need for these dogs disappeared, during WW2, the Canine distemper disease almost wiped out the breed entirely, today there are about 650 dogs thanks to dedicated work to save the breed.

I read about Lundehunds years ago and was impressed with their unique physiology. A recent posting, concerning Gorden Ramsay getting bit on...the beak, lol, by a puffin, brought the memory back. You and @snowbeast have definitely added to my knowledge of them. TY.
I forget to say that fugl/fågel means bird and hund means dog. I love comparing Scandinavian languages. It's especially cool that it is fairly easy for us in Scandinavia to understand written Swedish/Norwegian/Danish. The spoken language is very different. Norwegians and Swedes understand each other pretty well, and I think the Danes understand us too. But no one understands them.
