In trying to say that he should override states authority, impose a federal lockdown, arrest people who go maskless, imprison the infected without due process, the works.
Honest question, I don’t want to start a flame war, but is arresting or punishing people without masks in public overstepping bounds?
I understand freedom of choice, and I also know that wearing masks lowers the chance of spreading germs.
How so? Where I’m from, we are told to wear masks to stop ourselves from accidentally spreading pathogens.
Wouldn’t an asymptomatic carrier be responsible for any infections they possibly cause?
No. That would be akin to trying to arrest every person who went to work with a sore throat, or any person who happened to breathe in the general area of an infection in the prior two weeks. There are risks that have always come with living life and interacting with anything. Unless the spread is deliberate and malicious, there is no legal or moral ground to prosecute anyone.
This isn't the bubonic plague, and even that is still around. Trying to wait out or kill a virus with a 99.9 survival rate for otherwise healthy people is damned to fail.
If an individual is so terrified of getting sick, they can lock themselves away, or maybe take measures that would actually improve their chances. Spoiler alert, cloth masks ain't it.
Because apparently Nero watched Rome burn
