Yeah, you get the occasional woman who falsely accuses a man of abuse but in 99.9% of the time you'll be in the right by just supporting the victim from day one. In my time I've "jumped the gun" and unfriended guys I've known for years more times than I can count and in over thirty years Johnny Depp is the one guy I was wrong about. Supporting a victim of abuse when they cry out is better odds than walking across a street.
No, just take the best bet and apologize if you where wrong. When a person speaks up about abuse they need support. Not supporting them can lead to them going back to the destructive relationship.

Yep. Me too. I was taken out of my life, went to prison for a while. My last several years have been ruined, and I still haven't seen the end of the fallout. It's been absolutely devastating, and it seems like most people don't see a difference between accusations and false accusations. It *really* needs to be decided case by case.
