Bruh, Dr. Suess is not cancelled. Anyone with half a brain is not rallying for erasing him out of the history books. They just want people to acknowledge that he was heavily racist when he started out and most of his principle work is based in racism.
.
It is worth to be noted that towards the late end of his career he started to realise this and made multiple steps to curb that. It's a shame he died before he could give the entire world his certificate of a changed man.
.
No one wants to cancel a dead person. No one can. It's just acknowledgment that is important.
They have recalled and/or pulled or stopped selling at least 6 of his books in various, and is being touted as a racist across the internet.
`
And people literally tried to cancel Sean Connery within hours of his death. So, yeah, lots of people want to cancel dead people.
`
"It's a shame he died before he could give the entire world his certificate of a changed man" - what? It's a shame people went gobshit insane and started picking fights with his corpse
I’m not scrolling through weeks of comments to find something that was most likely deleted. But I recall a simpler time when you weren’t spreading regurgitated bullshit and I was blissfully unaware of your political beliefs.
I pretty much never delete my comments, but that's essentially the answer I was expecting.
`
So here we are in no man's land:
Discussing a statement you provided no context for, no evidence of, no direct quotation to potentially clarify - a statement entirely irrelevant to this meme - ...and yet you're here spouting off about how offended you are (apparently about my existence) anyway.
`
And your expectation of this is... what, exactly? You've given me nothing to address, so discourse can't be your endgame. You've given me no basis to change my opinion (haven't even explained what my apparent opinion is), or resolve whatever issue it is you have - not that I necessarily have an interest in doing so.
`
Are you just here to tell me how disappointed you are in a random person that you've barely interacted with, who posts memes on a free website for peoples' entertainment - and exclusively because they disagree with you?
`
What is it you want?
The shame he died line was a joke. People don't get certificates for changing. However, his books like Horton hears a who and The Sneetches are a clear example of his evolution that people seem to forget. In fact Horton hears a who was sort of an apology and was written for a Japanese friend of Dr Seuss. So yeah, he was changed or at least he was in the process.
.
The books that have been pulled did feature a lot of racist imagery. In fact, To think I saw it on mullbery street features the most. They had a choice between pulling the books or censoring the books or acknowledging them. WB puts a disclaimer before it's older cartoons about how the cartoons are a product of it's time and feature racist imagery. They still show it and they still make money.
.
Personally, I think a foreword acknowledging the racism and Dr Seuss's later evolution should have been included in the books. And a little bit of retouching of the illustration. I mean, they had already done the retouching part befor
I'm not really for retouching, but yeah. Acknowledging the whole of the man's work would be a credit to him while still respecting that dark part of history.
Not looking to start this up again, but just for posterity's sake, and, ironically, while looking for out of context conversations (for the meme) i stumbled across what i assume to be the post that triggered a thousand ships

It hasn't been released, it seems so no link available. I've seen leaks from it is all, so take it with a grain of salt.
There is this about the spanish flu that proves they don't stop viruses.
