While they're similar looking dogs from the same family, they're two different breeds from different regions, one is also bigger than the other, the Siberian Husky usually stands between 20 and 24 inches tall and weighs 35-60 lbs, and the Alaskan Malamute ranges from 23 to 25 inches tall, and weighs from 75 to 85 lbs
I think most pet rats are typically of a group written off as"fancy rats."
`
There are definitely varieties of rats outside fancy, though, and if someone has an African soft furred rat (for example) they'll usually know and be able to tell you
I know of husky, siamese, albino, dumbo, naked and rex. Though I don't know if the names are all accurate.
Also it's mostly variations of colour rather than breed.
