As a Japanese citizen, I vouch for this scathing truth

I want to visit Japan someday. But as an ugly, fat, 5’9” American woman, I want to *visit.* And I don’t even get the *bad* end of the racism stick.

I don't mean to be rude but if you have the means and drive to do it just do it. You can't let other peoples perceived perceptions dictate your life.

Means is the issue right now. And I mostly meant that I want to visit it rather than live there.

One of my friends was going to go to Japan before the pandemic hit and all the borders shut down. I’m happy he didn’t get to go because I’m 99% sure he would have been treated poorly because he’s black. It would have really upset him. I wouldn’t be caught dead in any East Asian country TBH. I get enough racism at home.

If he does go, get him a shirt charging $X for selfies (in Japanese). Apparently, taking pictures with/of tall and/or black tourists is a pretty common thing.

No, that does not happen. They will stare though.
