Uh um I wouldn't think to every give any creature tap water... Maybe it's based on region and location. If the tap water isn't safe to drink for me then it isn't safe to drink for my pups.

My dogs and cats drink from my fishtank and random puddles.
They also lick their own buttholes.
Tap water is fine.
