But also people are getting that extra amount on top of unemployment and refusing to go back to work and abusing the system. Employers need to imrpoce and the government needs to make it so unemployment is harder to stay on for a long time.
It's basically impossible to live off unemployment in the US. You'll see a bunch of things about welfare queens adopting a bunch of kids and not spending the money on them, but those cases are so low they are statistically insignificant.
There's also the fact that most of unemployment benefits get dumped straight back into the economy, people on welfare aren't putting that money into savings or 401k's, they're spending it.
Stand up to wall street. Is that what she calls killing jobs and fucking over her own constituency while advocating against everything that could actually help people?
It's like inflation into recession and crashes isn't real and doesn't have real world consequences. And every time it happens, the average American gets squat and the big companies and corporations get off scot free.
Not disagreeing with this statement, I hate her with a passion.
But, "and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living"
Minimum wage has needed to be raised for decades. Somehow it for twisted into summer jobs for kids, not livable wages. It should be renamed and follow that.
Maybe people in some cities do need a higher wage.
But raising the minimum will only fuck people out of hours and jobs. Mega corporations love raising the wages, they can eat that cost easily. You know who can't? Small business and people who live in places with reasonable costs of living. You think a corner store owner in Weiser, Idaho can afford to pay people a wage that will support people in NY city? That would only put a lot of people out on their ass.
A local minimum wage based off that area's GDP, cost of living, and average income would be a decent compromise for the most part, but really, it's not the minimum wage doing the most damage to small business; for outlets, it's Amazon, for restaurants it's chains. Covid didn't help either.
love lack of government regulations on most things*. It allows them to do w/e they want easier. Usually they only like regulations if it hurts their competition.

Megacorporations love government regulations.
