while yes, this is a leading question specifically designed to get you to admit to speeding, answering like this could also not be good for you. Negligent driving is something you can be fined for. Not paying attention to your speed and admitting to it is basically just handing the government a note saying "please fine me"
you dont have to say anything, well technically you do, being silent legally isnt invoking your right to be silent. to do that you have to actually say "im invoking my right to remain silent"
but if you are going to answer the question just saying "yes" without elaborating is probably your best bet.
you say i'm not aware of any laws i was breaking, never offer any info and never ever admit guilt to any thing. if necessary invoke your right to remain silent but be courteous and respectful about it don't piss him off, he will make you pay for being an ass hole. people think they can talk there way out of a 100 dollar ticked but they never think i can answer questions and talk my self in to a thousand dollar ticket or worse. its like when they ask where you coming from you say McDonalds, well that place just got robbed and you just admitted to being there guess who is now a suspect all because you answered a simple harmless question. did the robber look like you? this is going to escalate fast.
know the speed limit and just say 1mph or 1kmh under. If they question it, ask for time to get the odometer inspected. Odometers are notoriously fucked up; I've fucked four up, personally. I've only had 3 cars... Given how I used to drive it's amazing I was never pulled over for speeding. I hit 90 and was bouncing around on a really shitty road; nearly drifted off a mountain twice, and went 136 on the george bush tollway. Plus like... hundreds of other infractions testing the zooms... now I'm in no rush and chill.. the slower I drive the more music I get to listen too.
