What exact "modern propaganda" would that be, maybe someone would care to elaborate? I guess in lack of any presentable argument, the reply will be pressing the usual button though.
That those damn women have their own thoughts, views and opinions. Everyone knows they don't, that's just modern propaganda trying to confuse men who are clearly the only ones worth listening to.
Actually, come to think of it, I would really like to read a retelling of the events in 1984 from the point of view of Katherine (Winston's ex wife), Julia (the love interest) and the sex seller. They're different ages so it could focus on their lives and how Big Brother came to power. It could be turned into a prequel (the old sex seller and Katherine), parallel story (Katharine and Julia) and a sequel to 1984 (Julia's life after Winston).
Bonus fun; Brazil, the 1985 Terry Gilliam movie, is a kind of 1984 sequel. Well worth watching.
The comments do not disappoint. I saw the meme and was like… oh? That’s it now? Women’s view points are now considered propaganda? Or… giving women and their perspectives a platform is propaganda?
Let’s ignore the women’s issues part of it and how dehumanizing and inherently chauvinistic that thought process is and look at something else… how inherently stupid this is. As though the person writing it never actually read 1984.
While “politically correct speech” was part of the premise- the big “bad” was the totalitarian fascism and manipulation and restriction. A society which only had a singular point of view- which… giving voice and platform to a group of people traditionally without one is sort of the opposite of that. Like- I could at least get the metaphor here if they were re releasing 1984 to remove parts that are considered offensive or censoring the book, but telling the story from another perspective doesn’t erase the original work.
Despite the release of “Grendel” Beowulf as a character and influence and work of fiction is still doing quite well for itself despite its age. So I mean… telling the same story from a different perspective or giving women a focus isn’t exactly totalitarian fascism….
(Gimme the downvote)
