Hate works both ways. If hating someone for being gay is wrong, because that's the way they feel... then how is it any different for hating someone who doesn't support gay marriage, simply because that's the way they feel.
This is the problem I have with the whole gay acceptance agenda.
Guest do you feel the same way toward a racist person. It's the same thing. I wouldn't be friends with a racist, just like I don't want to be friends with someone who thinks marriage is not for everyone to experience. When you stand in the way of someone's chance at a normal life, than you are already starting a hate war.
Hating someone and choosing not to be friends with someone are two entirely different things. I wouldn't be friends with the majority of the population of the US (where I live) for various reasons that are my own to know, it doesn't mean I hate them. People seem to hate people who do not support gay marriage, you choosing to not be friends with them is your right, publicly being rude and mean to them is not.
as i grew older one of the hardest things to accept and understand was that the single act of someone is never the true judge of their character.something no one on either side of this debate cares to consider. I still struggle with this concept to this day. like the guest said, if someone dislikes gays, or are racist why are they not entitled to their thoughts just as you are entitled to yours?
I hate how people who don't support gay are all viewed the same. Why do you care if I support gay marriage, why does it matter so much to you that I have to accept what your doing. People have different opinions. The Bible says for the person who has no sin to cast the first stone. I know I have plenty of sin so I have no right to hate or be mean to people who support gay marriage, but I will stand up for myself if I am attacked for my beliefs. Me not supporting your views on the world affects you in no way. People say that Christians not supporting gay marriage is like ordering your favorite sub at subway and getting mad that other people don't order the same thing. People who hate on people who don't support gay marriage is the same thing!! That would be like you buying a new pair of shoes and getting mad if not everyone likes them. Like wtf? Why do I need to like your shoes? I have a different style, different opinions. Wear whatever the heck you want, I don't have to like it.
but yours is preventing other peoples life style. I guess a better analogy would be ordering a sandwich at Subway and then when someone tries to order something else, getting mad and hopping the counter and forcing everyone to only buy your type of sandwich. I have no issue with you if you don't like gay people for various religious reasons. But if you're attempting to keep gay marriage illegal, you're stopping other people from doing something in line with their beliefs because they don't happen to conform with yours. You don't have to like gay people, and it's your choice if you don't or not. But if you don't support letting people who're gay to be married, that is a problem.
Anyway, I certainly hope I didn't come off as rude or accusatory in any way and I hope that explains it a little better for you :)
It is not about supporting gay marriage. It is then about supporting marriage. Why do you care who gets married? And why do you care what is in an old book? There are so much crap in there that people, christian people who destain gay marriage, ignore. Divorce, tattoos - look in the old testament there are a lot of juciy stuff in there that if not lived by should result in death.
But no no, people just choose what is convenient to live by. That is what makes me a bit tired of this whole religion thing.
And that fact that someone do believe that the earth is 6000 years old. Believing that while driving pick up truck full of fuel? Com on.
And! Look at all the big religions, then look at the size of planet earth. Then look at the milky way and then look at the universe. So all gods for all religions just choose this planet? And never ever mention anything else? Even though they created everything?
By all means, believe in fairy tales if it makes you get through your day.
Actually if you knew the Bible you'd understand that everything in the Old Testament, all the sacrificing and rules became irrelevant when Christ died on the cross. All I'm saying is it seems like a double standard, people say that Christians are always trying to dictate how you live your life and force you to believe what they believe. But this post proves that there are people like that on both sides! Why do people give Christians so much crap? Its not like they're all out to get you personally, if you don't believe the same thing as them ignore them! If you can support people who are gay without being gay yourself, I don't get why people can't support Christians for living the life they do. If I want to live by the laws written in a book you call a fairytale, why can't I? Why does it have to affect other people the way I want to live my life? It's the same with gay people, and your right, it doesn't affect me. I just don't want to live my life that way.
Even if I don't support gay marriage, what does that matter? I'm not personally stopping gay marriage, I'm living my life the way I want to live my life, it shouldn't affect anyone else but myself. That's what people don't understand about Christians, we're not out to keep the world from doing what they want, we're making decisions that affect ourselves, we will speak our opinion, but everyone does. Like I said before it's the same thing as someone buying a pair of shoes, asking what people think of them, then getting angry when not everyone likes them. But does that stop the person from wearing them? If they have ten people who adore the shoes and love them, why should it matter to them what one person thinks, especially since they asked.
Church should have zero place in laws. ZERO. I'm a taoist and you don't see me protesting other's rights to eat potatoes because my religion says it's wrong (they're part of the nightshade family, and thus associated with negative energy/yin). Besides, if you're not the one doing it then why should you get so pissy about how "wrong it is"? Plus, a lot of bible translations (*cough*King James*cough*) were purposefully translated in favor of their beliefs. People will lie to get their way. Sodom was actually talking about rape, both according to a website I once read and was then somewhat varicose by the fact a Latin speaking friend of mine said that this was true. There are also gay animals, so it can't be that unnatural. There are just so many things that bother me about this! HOWEVER: I have a friend who is both anti-gay AND racist- not to an extreme, but that, despite not actually being mean to other races, is against interracial marriages. My mom too. I just have to live with it.
This is the problem I have with the whole gay acceptance agenda.
