Maybe I'm thinking Canadian/Canadien. I was in Canada for about 36 hours, so I didnt really notice much other than a way better credit card system, clean streets, nice people, and the use of Celsius.

Canadian vs Canadien is just the English vs french spelling.
When I was in 2nd grade, the teacher held back after school half the class because they spelt it like "colour" and not "color" and said "maths" instead of "math"...I was one of those kids...
In my experience, the stupid Americans can't spell to save their lives so the best they could ever put together could be 'color' and 'fav'. The other Americans may spell however they like and so can the rest of the world, even the British. British spelling doesn't make people stupid, pretentious asses. Get over your judgemental shit.
I hate it when somebody corrects me if I write "colour" instead of "color", among other similar words. I'm latin and we learn british english here therefore we spell words that way, and it's definitely not dumb.
We learn English here in the UAE both ways, so it's your choice whether to spell words the American way or the British way, as long as you're consistent about it. For example, my friend is used to the British way of writing things, but I prefer the American way. To each their own, you know? No need to be so rude about it.
