I just unchecked gifs off of my All page. I find it annoying too.

I'll throw in my nickel. I agree, I dislike the new format. To me, it seems that gifs are broken. For others, it sounds like we now have what are essentially silent vines.

To be fair, I suspect that it probably has something to do with bandwidth conservation. But there are other ways of doing it. I have seen a feature where the gif doesn't load untill you click on it, but it carries on like a normal gif from there.

I like this because you can pause the gifs easily. It's cool.
