You bet the hell I am. If you're fat to the point that your life is threatened, and you sit on a high horse that is struggling to hold your tons of fat up, I'm pretty damn bothered.
You need help, or you're going to die way before you should.
In most cases, it is. The obese are at a higher risk of heart disease, heart attack, stroke and a myriad of other ailments. Insurance companies will take that into account, much like smokers and heavy drinkers.
There are lots of reasons someone could be obese and not all of them are simply out of 'bone idleness.' Some people have genuine medical conditions and would love to be thin. So yeah, sometimes they should be given a break.
Well sorry but a large majority are obese from life style. It's hard to lose weight bc they've thrown off their bodies regular functions. It takes more effort to fix a lot of harm. There are plenty of cases of people with thyroid disorders and whatever but and some healthy but still in the category of morbidly obese. Those type of people deserve healthcare. But like a heavy drinker or smoker, you deserve the higher rates you have from your bad choices in the past.
Less than 5% are medical conditions, and even then the majority of people with medical conditions are 'overweight' but will generally try harder to keep their health up and not become obese
No there's like actual disorders that will make you over weight/ chubby. But yes they're rare and sometimes it's because they're like bloated but yeah I'd agree that's mostly their fault.
We're finding out more and more that obesity is more closely resembling disabilities both mentally and physically. It is not as simple as just making the "right" choice and getting better. It's so much more complex than that and it's a good thing that they're being recognized as a group, not so that we can just enable their lifestyles, but so that we can find better ways to offer them long term solutions and aid in their recovery. *just a med student's soap box*
It's not complex... If you're sad and over eat you will get fat. Yeah there's all sorts of mental illnesses that contribute but you treat that illness. That's not treating the obesity. Take responsibility and drink a glass of water instead of Mountain Dew
And what exactly should I do when the medication I take to treat my mental illness is half of why I'm overweight? Yeah, I'm sad, and that's part of why I'm overweight, but medication alone can't make my issues go away. So you know what? While I work my ass off every day dealing with panic attacks and suicidal thoughts, I'm going to eat too much. I'm not going to reach the point of morbid obesity, but sometimes the only way to get myself out of bed is food. And when I reach a point where I can manage my illness, I'll tackle my weight. But for now, please accept that life isn't always as easy as just 'taking responsibility'.
Everything you just said sounds like a fat chicks excuse for over eating. Everyone has problems, except healthy people deal with them. You medicate yourself with prescription drugs and food. I run 20 miles a week and mentally prepare myself for whatever issues I'm facing. Grow up, put down the god damn donut, and do something that doesn't involve super sizing yourself or your food
As long as your body fat is unthreatening, you shouldn't be discriminated against. But when your heart is 2 pounds away from seizing up, you need to get off your ass already!!!!
Yes this bothers me a lot. As a fat person I know that the reason im fat is my own doing its nothing special its the effects of eating unhealthy and no daily exercise. Its not okay to be fat idk what the fuck is wrong with society nowadays
granted its true it is in most cases the individuals fault for getting dangerously obese but do not forget that its these multi million dollar companies that own these fast foods and it society that is using chemicals and preservatives in our food that are not good for us just better for them money wise... my point is society/companies have influenced our society to eat what we eat, it is not just these "super" fat people that are to blame
I eat from a fast food place maybe once every month or two.. I agree it's unhealthy and there are unnatural ingredients in it so I limit my consumption. Furthermore, you can't claim that fatness is linked with fast food chains when people get fat eating high quantities of healthy foods too.
look others health isnt any of your buisness unless it directly affecting you, everyone has a different opinion and there are a lot of myths and pointless/false arguments let doctors tell their patients how healthy they are and dont harrass people for how they look and i live in canada idk about everyone but if people want to try and get their healthcare or procedures covered by insurance dont get mad if they get accepted and there is so many illnesses and health problems they cant all be cured and focussed on its just how it is
