Thank you! People always say "Defending America" when they aren't defending but instead are attacking. I don't blame the soldiers because they are just taking orders. It's the old men who control them. Just be honest and say you're attacking a country, not defending yours.
We take the fight to them so that you can eat your baconator without worrying about batshit crazy fanatics running in an beheading you for eating pork. You're welcome btw.
Fighting a group of terrorist militia men is a lot different then going to a country to fight their army. If I'm not mistaken we are in the Middle East to fight terror. If no one does then things like the USS Cole, and the Twin towers, Nairobi, and other innocent lives can easily be forgot? Down vote me for defending the U.S. But someone has to do it when no one else wants to.
True... but, in the case of threats such as ISIS/ISIL, the AQ, the Germans and Japanese in WW2... to not have done so would've left the US vulnerable to destruction. I'm not saying it's needed every time we're attacked, but in a lot of cases, the US and other countries are stuck for options, especially when diplomacy fails.
The last time the United States invaded anything was in 2003 when we invaded Iraq. That wasn't even close to being about "defending America" it was about ousting a dictatorship.
I only know of 3 U.S. invasions in the last 30-40 years. Grenada, Iraq, and Panama. Each one was during a time of political turmoil amongst diplomatic issues. Only one of these invasions was deemed against the UN and that was Grenada. The others were sanctioned by the UN. Your argument is vague and without fact.
The Iraq war was because Iraq supposedly had nuclear weapons, even though there was no proof for that, and none were ever found and the United Nations considered the war illegal...so oil, yeah.
The Afghan war was to build the unacol pipeline, I think they even tried to negociate with the Talibans at first..so oil, yeah.
We went to Iraq to find WMD's, not just nukes. We did find the facilities to build them, as well as numerous chemical agents.
The war on terror in Afghanistan is to hunt down those who attacked us as well as all of their friends.

If we wanted to start a war to get oil then we would invade Canada. The United states gets somewhere in the neighborhood of more then half it's oil from there.
Hahaha!!! Do you seriously think Vietnam a complied anything? The US lost, had to have a massive evacuation from Saigon, Cambodia became a repressive communist regime, and Russia seriously had fuck all to do with it. Ho Chi Minh went to Moscow to study, but for all intents and purposes, the Russians wanted nothing to do with South East Asia.
You're correct in saying that the Russians didn't have anything to do with it but the Soviets did. The Soviets focused heavily on Europe while the Chinese focused on Asia. Similarly to the North Koreans the North Vietnamese supported China during their civil war which in turn the Chinese supported them during theirs. The Soviets wanted little to do with them but the Chinese had much more to do with them.
Amidst political instability, religious persecution, mass killings, ISIS, and anti-west elderly and pro-west youth clashing over ideology and beliefs many Iraqis, old enough to remember, call for the time of Saddam because the country at the time was stable compared to what it is today. I can't remember who but I think it was vice who did a documentary on it.
So when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and America fought back, the Americans weren't defending their country they were invading Japanese territory right?
Nope. They were roflstomping those who kicked them first.
Admit it. If someone were to come up to you and sucker punch you in the nose, you'd flail back as hard as you can. That's pretty much what we did except we took it a bit farther and curbstomped them to make sure they would never whack us again.

Forgive the violent analogy, but that's pretty much what it was.
What I said was dripping with sarcasm, just saying. I personally think that we shouldn't be in the Middle East at all. We should just let everyone over there figure it out for themselves and stop spending American dollars and lives that could be better spent improving our own country
Alright, let's look at The Troubles, one of the longest wars of the 20th century, British soldiers were sent in especially to "protect" Catholics and republicans (who were under attack) from the local Protestant and unionist majority, but instead of improving the life for this minority they had them interned, they shot them at protests, they denied them political status in prison to be treated as prisoners of war. Many of the men they sent to prison in their internment scheme and many of the people they shot had no paramilitary links, just people in the wrong place at the wrong time. The people who were abducted from their homes and shot with their hands up were very often contributing members of their communities, and even the ones with paramilitary links were contributing members of their community
Both sides during that conflict committed atrocities. Same goes with every conflict, that doesn't make it right but it's true. Both sides thought they were doing the better but in the end they were only hurting the neutral.

Is there a possibility that your opinion on this subject could be biased to one side?
Possibly, but after many, many, many hours of research into the topic, dozens of books from both sides of the conflict I am happy with my stance and will stand by it

Little off but the United States gets 73.5% (approx.) of its oil from the Western Hemisphere. North and South America with 38.8% produced in the U.S. alone. Canada accounts for 15.1% of US oil.
