European artists wanted a Jesus that Europeans could relate to, they made him white for the white people to see, I guess that interpretation just kept going after it reached a world audience though
Jesus was way uglier than that.
Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
That verse is referring to him looking normal. Specifically not looking like a king. Doesnt mean he was ugly. I like study bibles better b/c they go in depth and explain everything.
As a middle eastern person I find this hilarious, nobody there looks African! Around Israel and Palestine people are definitely lighter-skinned and they have mostly medium-brown hair, or dark brown hair. No, Jesus wasn't fair skinned and he didn't have blue eyes and light brown/blond hair but he didn't look like this!

Funny thing is very very few people in different countries now look like people from back then. I just read not too long ago the first people of China had black skin
From a biblical standpoint, it really isn't that long (I think the earth's only really been around for a little under 10,000 yrs). There's just two views on how long we and generally the earth has been around. Varies person to person.
I know..it's not like he was a Christian because he basically started Christianity..do people assume he was? I mean, he is the base of Christianity, so it couldn't have been around before him. Just saying
I know that, but do you really believe that the Jews who lived around 0-33 AD were the same as today's Jewish people? Does the history of Jews say anything to you, like moving to Europe in the Middle Ages, which was surprisingly full of white people, and that resulted in racial mixing, and then the Jews were coming back by masses when Israel was established? No? Okay.
Sorry for not knowing that much Jewish history off the top of my head. They probably did change quite a bit. Before that, they probably looked similar to modern Muslims.
Very much so. I'm not a historian either but I always thought that these things were widely known, or at least the basics. Meh, I guess it depends on the school system.

Wait... What?
