Education would be more beneficial, teach the adults (the ones lacking the common sense anyway) how to properly secure their firearms and teach the kids that firearms are dangerous and they should only be used in the presence of an adult, but mostly the weapons should be unreachable by the kids either in a safe or locked closet.
I love my guns, but I find it real disturbing how easy it is to get one and all the ammo you want,,,good law abiding gun owners like me should have no problem with common sense gun control measures
I agree with this 100%. But it this point in time, in our society, that sort of trust just will not work. Maybe, in the future it will but at the moment it's just going to get even more people killed.
You Americans really need to sort out your gun laws.
How many shootings do you guys get a month? A week?
Then, have a look at the rate of shootings in Australia, the UK, anywhere else in the world.
There must be something wrong with the sysetem if the stats look like they do. I did a study on this, the U.S. has the highest rate of gun-related violence than any other country. People are being murdered regularly for gods sake! And it looks to me that no one seems to care, given the amount that has been done about it- or should I say lack thereof.
Detorit has the strictest gun laws in the nation and they have the highest homicide rates. Thats just an example and im gona try to say this a mature as possible. Im not going to tell you your wrong cuz you are not we have a problem im not going to deny that but taking guns away like the UK and the Aussies did just will NOT work. Some of those stats anyway are skewed by what the local media, public opinion, and the internet says. Im studying in this field ok im almost half way through with a bachelors degree in criminal justice. My point is its not what you think it is. And i tend to get alittle opinionated about the second ammendment my ancestors died for it.
It's interesting to note that overall, the actual number of violent crime tends to remain the same percentage for any population it's just the method of execution that varies based on whats readily available. So would more gun laws reduce gun-related violence sure, but they wouldn't reduce violent crime that's going to happen no matter what laws you put in place.
My point is that it shouldn't be as easy as it is currently to buy a gun that can shoot hundreds of rounds per second.
Also, Here in AUS, I feel totally comfortable to walk around the streets at night, even by myself (as a woman particularly) whereas if I ever went to America, to be honest I would be terrified. This may not have anything to do gun laws and I may be basing my facts off the internet, but whatever the cause... There is something wrong, and something needs to be done.
You dont feel safe in america at night? LOLZ chica not everywhere is like the south bronx. I understand your misgivings but if you ever visit the states you can rest easy its safer than you think the statistics make it sound like people are getting shot by the dozens daily thats not the case.
