Fry sliced fresh garlic and some butter in a saucepan (until the garlic is brown but not burned), and boil your broccoli it to soften it slightly. Drain the broc and throw it in with the garlic and butter. You'll die of mouth pleasure but it's worth it.
Barely heated broccoli is exactly how mickymouse describes it. illjusthavewater describes one good way of cooking it. I personally do something similar; I sautee it in crushed garlic and olive oil and use my sister as a guinea pig to tell me when it's done cooking.
