You just have to drive a bit. There are huge open spaces all across the US that have absolutely no light pollution. But you might not get back into your feather bed if you go there.
LED lighting is making a big change to this. Sure, the initial investment is big, but the long term in energy savings, bulb life and light pollution is huge. A couple pictures posted here demonstrate that quite well.
I'm not worried, because it isn't harmful in any way. Also there are many areas in every country that don't have big cities and towns where you can see the stars properly
I used to live in a rural place where you can see so many beautiful stars, not to mention the fireflies that are just as pretty. I had to move to a bigger city for college though and I hated it because you can't see stars at all.
I mean I agree, most of us haven't seen the stars, but for someone who saw the stars every night, the glow of a big city like in this picture would be absolutely gorgeous
As someone who is used to the stars, the glow of a big city is absolutely frightening. Seeing the stars brings people closer to nature, in my opinion. It reminds us how tiny we are, and other than that I don't think big city lights are particularly pretty at all.
Hell yeah I am! The new 49er's stadium got these special light bulbs that shine light directly on to the field and cause a lot less light pollution than normal stadium lights. They cost something like 5,000 dollars per bulb though.
Really? We have extremist Islamic militants, hunger, ACTUAL pollution, Nuclear war threats and more, and you're worried about it being too bright? I think there's a reason why nobody is concerned.
Also the blueberries.
