I definitely want stronger action to be taken. However, we can't just torture and kill civilians. Not only is it against the Geneva Convention but that would effectively just make us a bigger terrorist group.
You know, the people of the USA are too highly moral in some cases and I think this is one of them. Retribution is in order for hostages, but I don't agree with this method in particular for us.
It's so scary to see how many people are okay with the killing of a possibly innocent person. No I'm not for the diplomats being kidnapped but maybe they should have taken an actual terrorist and did this not a relative
killing people and sending around their body parts is always an answer. we should do it more often. don't hunt down and imprison the bad guys, catch their grandpas, wives, kids etc and slice them like salami because that's the only language the bad guys understand. and we can speak that language. oh yes. we are proud of how well we can deal with the bad guys. getting on their level and all that. very fucking sophisticated and lawful and humane.
So, what did the castrated relative do to warrant maiming and death? Oh, their cousin or whatever was a terrorist? Oh well, that's fair.
Let's turn that around. There are members of ISIL who are American citizens. Should we allow the KGB to come and do the same thing to an American citizen?
also, if i may add some advice, don't be genetically/famillialy connected to terrorists because certain "fighters against terrorism" might show up and cut your balls off without any prior warning and call it 'justice', 'it's the only language they understand' etc and get a medal for it.
Yeah. tyler. You're missing the point. Cut the terrorists' ball off, not someone who had the misfortune of sharing the same family tree. When you equate the actions of one person with those related to them, you become part of the problem, not part of the solution.
When you stated, "You don't wanna be drawn and quartered? Don't join an internationally recognized terrorist organization and murder people. Really not that hard." The terrorists weren't getting the chop. It was their innocent relatives.
It's a simple question. Are you okay with killing people?
I know that terrorists do terrible things, including brutally killing innocent people but nonetheless they are people too.
I personally would answer the question with no, which leads to a problem: I'm not okay with terrorists or anyone else murdering, so I can't be okay with murdering them. But how can we stop them?
You all must be too young to remember Reagan bombing Libya because their terrorist bombing in Germany killed an American service member. Reagan (w/England's help) bombed 5 target with the intent of sending a message about their terrorist activities and added that "if necessary, [they] shall do it again".
Wasnt andrew jackson really racist? I might be getting him mixed up with someone else so correct me if im wrong. Either way, you cant deny that reagan was not an amazing president
Reagan was a monster:
1. He cut taxes for the rich and raised taxes on the middle class to pay for it.
2. He tripled the national debt.
3. He sold arms to Iran and used the funds to support terrorists in Nicaragua (at least 24 felonies there, not to mention trashing the Constitution in the process).
4. He funded terrorists (including Osama bin Laden, and essentially created al Qaida).
5. Unemployment soared during his terms in office.
6. He gave amnesty to over 3 million undocumented, illegal immigrants.
7. He consistently attacked both unions and the middle class.
7. He threw millions of mentally ill people out into the street by repealing the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980.
8. He was an informant for Joe McCarthy, seeking out "hidden Communists", all of which were proven to be false in later years.
9. He was involved in the HUD Grant Rigging Scandal, giving contracts to Reagan cronies and supporters.
10. He approved the cre of Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD) with one purpose: to spread propaganda amongst the American people.
11. He supported apartheid.
12. He didn't even mention AIDS until his last year in office; by that time, hundreds of thousands had already died without a cent of public funding from the federal government.
He was a monster. The world is a better place without him in it. We are still paying off his horrible legacy.
They have ideals that directly opposes those popular in the west, and they were the only guys willing and able to take us on in a conventional, unconventional, and/or nuclear war.
ok, but he still was an amazing president, He basically ended the cold war, and did help the economy in many ways. There is a reason that people judge how good a presidential candidate is by how close they are to Reagan. its really late where i am right now so im not gonna go into too much detail but just think about it
He did NOT end the Cold War. The Soviets spent themselves into oblivion. I am sick of every knucklehead claiming that Reagan ended the Cold War. And the only people who judge how close a candidate is to Reagan are scumbag Tea Party conservatives. Was he good at manipulating media? You betcha, even better than Clinton. Does the ability to manipulate the facts make you a good president? Nope.
I totally get that you want Reagan to have been awesome and as incredible as, say, Roosevelt or Lincoln. He just wasn't; all he did was stick it to Democrats by playing a different, and more frightening game than they were.

It sounds bad ass but its actually really really horrible and it suggests that other countries can do the same to our citizens. This a response of a weakening country trying to look strong. Any country can brutally murder a captive.
The US used to conduct business like that too, and guess what? It got shit done.
Let's turn that around. There are members of ISIL who are American citizens. Should we allow the KGB to come and do the same thing to an American citizen?

where did I advocate for punishing unrelated people?
for some reason I read that it was the TERRORIST who got drawn and quartered, not his relative
brilliant

The one and only time the US was debt free IIRC
1. He cut taxes for the rich and raised taxes on the middle class to pay for it.
2. He tripled the national debt.

Most of those have specific citations for their points, which is the only way they made it onto my list.
