Because they won't let your school be sponsored by Pepsi like the stadiums are.
My highschool was sponsored by coke cola and we got new computers and a new auditorium. It's your school board fault lol
Publicly funded sports stadiums are a total rip off for municipalities. St Louis is still on the hook for something like 12 million dollars for Edward Jones Dome, but The Rams are moving to LA, so their main tenant is gone.
Bottom line:
They don't give one single fuck about any students or their education, anywhere, for anything or any reason.
They only care about the 0.05% of high schoolers that play football, the 0.05% of them that go on to play at the collegiate level and then the 0.005% of them that get drafted to the NFL and the further 0.05% of them that are even good enough to become notable star players.
Let's not even get started on the slavery to the school that collegiate players endure while the school makes millions on their backs, all under the guise of a scholarship to "provide them an education" that is actually worthless because they have been academically railroaded to keep them in good NCAA standing to be able to play.
Never mind the fact that the NFL posted 11.2 Billion dollars in revenue last year. For what? "Entertainment?"
People lambaste the 100 million budget for the movie Gravity being bigger than the 73 million Indian Mars mission, but at least movies like that can inspire awe, wonder and curiosity and get people to join the space program of their nation.
What does the NFL give us? Any new information that enables us to see the world in a new light and understand things that we hadn't before? Has there been any derivative technology spinoffs?
Does it do anything other than fuck up the broadcast schedule of programs that are actually worth watching?
A fair few of the technologies enjoyed by the NFL are space program derivatives... even the medical imaging that revealed Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy that the NFL tried so hard to cover up.
The NCAA pisses me off so much. College athletes are expected to prioritize athletics over schooling, they risk permanent injury, and they aren't allowed any of the massive pile of money the NCAA makes off of them.
While I do believe that college athletes deserve some sort of compensation, they receive far more than just a scholarship. Their "benefit package" consists of the things they would have to provide for themselves, were they not on a collegiate sports team. This includes things like the stadium and world class facilities they use, travel to and from games, televised matches, etc.
You guys with your "Government hates Students"-stuff.. The fact is, that peasants like You and me who support the NFL/NBA etc. with their money make them get better and faster contracts/construction companies etc.. This has got noting to do with politics at all.
