OH MY GOD I HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS TODAY AND IF YOU THINK IT ISN'T A BIG DEAL YOU ARE WRONG [insert friend's name]. SHE KEPT ON DOING IT AGAIN EVERY TIME I FIXED IT AND IT WAS PURE TORTURE.
I don't even highlight text in my textbook. For English, I used to write in pencil faintly whenever I made notes in the book we were studying and rubbed them out later when the year was over.
I understand not messing up a book by highlighting it or writing in it. However, the author of Wuthering Heights ruined the book more just by writing it down than you could ever do by writing notes in it or using a highlighter.
I have metal bookmarks and those suckers last a while as long as they don't get wet. Also I used to memorize the page # but it gets very confusing if you read more than one book at a time and especially if you've read the book before. I sometimes forget which page I stopped at or if the page I remembered was for this time through or the last one.
Hate on us 'monsters' if you will, but I think books are meant to build character as they are read, every reader leaves a touch of themselves behind with the book...
