I agree, simply because I love story rich games. However, not every game is needed to be story rich. Sometimes, you just want a simple, cute platformer. Sometimes, you want a co op game with friends. Every game style has its purposes.
Yes, but... Devs should:
• Establish reasonable, attainable goals with semi ridged deadlines.
• Communicate with the fanbase to keep their interest and trust. THROUGH PR.
• If the game isn't ready, say so and why. Apologise for the delay. Tell the fans that you respect them to much to give them a broken game.
• If you over extended, are behind and need to cut material to make a reasonable release... cuts that the fans know about... apologise again and give it back to them in FREE DLC patch updates. Save the paid DLC for the expansions.
"Don't worry about release dates" name one game that had a release date pushed back that made the game great. And don't say no man's sky because that's not out yet
Uncharted 4 to name one, and plenty of others. Of course, we wouldn't know if it was necessary because we didn't play the game they made before they decided they needed more time on it. But, they push them back for a reason.
