Personally,I don't care for heels.Women shouldn't wear something that's hurting them.If I go on a date, and she's wearing heels,I'd probably tell her to go put on regular shoes, because I don't want her to have to wear them the entire time, hurting her an shit.
OK I totally get why she was laughed at but hgh heels are a proven long term health hazard and it's ridiculous to force anyone to wear them. Yes, companies are allowed to enforce a dress code but not if it causes problems. Besides, some people already have health problems that prevent them from wearing heels.
I understand that company dress code is a thing, but high heels ruin your feet pretty effectively, so it's quite obvious that she's more concerned about her health than some ridiculous dress code.
An obligatory formal dress or suit is one thing, and a matter of negotiation. Having to wear something that potentially ruins your health is something totally different. The sheer fact that is in discussion here is so much more proof than necessary (or called for) that the business world (as the rest of it) still is full of sexism. So dear meninist morons: time to down vote my posting
"You have a substance problem?" *Descartes approves*
I have nothing meaningful to add, just wanted to make a joke.

Or maybe I do, meninism is indeed a joke/troll, however some people take it too seriously and actually identify as meninists. The meninist tweet account is one big troll and basically posts jokes, however on a website I cannot name because fs automatically deletes it when you name another fun website, there are people who actually identify as meninists and unironically proclaim that women are inferior. Of course they're just barbaric misogynists, the same way third wave feminism has basically become misandry.
Heels hurt. End of story.
I can understand enforcing a "dress shoe" policy, but a woman should not be required to wear heels unless she is just there to show off for the people there.
Business men have to wear full suits in summer. If a person wants to work for a corporate company then they have to adhere to the appropriate dress code. Heels look formal, no other shoe does. It's that simple.
Suits in summer = hot. It is indeed uncomfortable but you can improve that by drinking cold water, besides most companies have AC in their buildings anyway, if they don't they're considered quite unprofessional. Heels = feet hurt and can damage your bone and joints when worn everyday. It really is not the same thing. Besides, flat black shoes can also look formal without hurting your feet, and formal shoes like oxfords and brogues also exist for females.
there are also shoes like wedges that have a slight, yet thick elevated heel and still look super formal. They are also a little more comfortable and less likely to cause bone and joint damage than heels
The issue was that her job was 9 hours standing and walking in those heels (which, as has been discussed, are painful and ultimately damaging). She had minimal time sitting. That is pure torture.
There is a difference between clothes that just make you hot and then shoes that cut into your feet after a few hours of wearing them. They also mess with your posture and your spinal cord. Those who are saying that she should just get over herself have obviously never worn heels. Why don't you try walking around with them for a few hours and see how your feet feel?
The point is: why heels? Why not just formal shoes? Answer is: because heels make a women "move sexy", seen from the point of view of a man watching her from behind. That's it, and that's the really sexist part here.
Brendon_stump just posted it. Apparenty she did tell them about the health defects, or at least that walking all day in heels would hurt her, they still told her to go to hell. She also asked how would wearing formal flat shoes impair her work productivity, and they weren't able to answer her. I think she was quite nice and smart about it and they still told her to go f herself.
