excuse me, most doctors, nurses, and everyone else that works in the public health sector is severely overworked and underpaid. and even if they were, by some miracle, paid app 2% of what footballers are paid, would you say it's too much? can people who are constantly vigilant and trying to help others even BE paid an amount that is TOO MUCH?!
asshole.
Because everyone over the world watches football, all the advertisements and ticket sales. What else would they do with the money.
A lot of footballers are charitable anyway.
Do timed surgeries live on tv with two teams of doctors and in front of an audience. If you loose you patient, you loose the game.
You could even do mini commercials, "this badder brought to you by depends." Or, "this heart brought to you by tums: he getting a new heart, let's not burn it.
Also if you think about what a sports team actually makes its only right that an individual player makes a lot of money. They're incredibly talented and are risking their careers each time they step on the field due to injury. They aren't going to be working until they're 65 either, so retirement may be coming at 30 or 35. After retirement a lot of players are facing a lifetime of pain from various injuries acquired over their careers as well.
Everyone who does heavy physical work faces those dangers, construction workers can die in a work related accident every day. Do they get paid lots? No.
Who exactly would watch construction workers do their job? Exactly what type of sponsors will be willing to pay them for commercializing their products? The REASON athletes make that type of money is because of US. WE ARE THE ONES THAT WATCH SPORTS. If people want construction workers, health care workers, or garbage men, or anyone else to be rich like athletes are then watch and support all the programs about them. If it was interesting to enough people then they could be famous too, and money would be available to those jobs as well. The fact is, it's just not interesting to the majority of people. Arguing that they should make that type of money is...well quite frankly ridiculous.
