None of my babies were ever x-rayed that way. My son was in the hospital for the first 2yrs of his life and had multiple done. Maybe it depends on what part they are doing?
That's the Pigg-O-stat. Used for chest X-rays of infants. Babies hate it but it minimizes their radiation exposure by ensuring no repeat films would be taken :D
Oh thanks for the info. My son has had hundreds of chest x-rays because he has BPD. He was extremely premature. They always just had him lay down and someone would stretch his arms over his head. They have the mobile x-ray machines that take instant digital pictures. He now sits and someone stretches his arms up, usually me.
It's only for chest x-rays...they have to keep their arms above their head so you get a full view of their lungs. And sitting in that contraption usually makes them cry - which makes the lungs fully inflated and more visible.
*puts them in soundproof cage*
