Actually there is such thing, the proper name for it is "Simplified English", Britain has "Traditional English".
Just like Mexico, Simplified Spanish, and Spain, Traditional Spanish.
No, American English is a thing. Just like Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, etc. are things. They are accents and dialects that require specific knowledge for full and complete understanding. In fact, modern American English sounds more like Old English, as modern British English derives most of its accent from French.
I'm French, once you've heard us speak english (those of us who can, at least) you realize theres no possible way that british english derives its accent from french.
I should have clarified. The accent mostly derives from the Norman influence in British courts and royal life in the south, and Scandinavian languages in the north.
It's more of a "you may learn something new" thing. You don't really have to be here but I do learn something every now and then.
Also obviously you do since you posted lol
