Money doesn't buy happiness, but passion doesn't pay rent. Only with90% of us doing shit we hate is there a market share for 10% of us to do things we love to do.
honestly, thanks. I really needed to hear this right now. I want to be an author, but it's not a very stable career. There's a 1/1000 chance that I'd actually make money off my writing, but it is something i really want to do with myself. Maybe I'll open a book store or something. I don't know. But I do know that school for 6 years to be a forensic scientist isn't something I want to do
I'd major in English with a minor in business. You can always use a business degree... I have an English degree... and there isn't much to do with it unless you teach or write, but that's where the business degree helps.
None of my business but opening a store without a proper major is impossible unless you're a millionnaire (no bank will lend you the money). You should study for whatevs other job like work in a bakery/chocolate factory/... and write in your freetime, then let go of the job once your books start to be successful.
And the good news is, you don't need a language degree to write books, all you need is a computer or a pen and paper!
I try to do what i like and i have to say that is a fucking struggle and i start not liking what i do... So maybe a hobby should stay a hobby to be really enjoyed... The world we live in have societies' and societies have rules ... You can make money out of everything but not decent money
Not to be petty, but the point of this post is that money doesn't matter all too much as long as you yourself are happy. Making money should not deprive people of happiness. But who knows? If luck is on your side, then maybe you can make some big money on what you like!
The author states that it doesn't take much to live comfortably: Warm Home, Laptop, Food (should also include clothes, some kind of transportation and other stuff).. you know what? That all takes quite a bit of money (a ton of money depending where you live) and a constant outlay of money as well to keep them. This advice will probably leave you homeless, and probably comes from someone who grew up with money (or at least comfortable)
I'm going to start a company wherein people will pay to watch me watch tv, laugh at memes, and build strange things (i.e. Trebuchet, zip line, tractor attachments)
You know what costs money? A warm home, food, a laptop, cat food, and everything else. Money may not buy happiness but I know that I'm a way more pleasant person when I know my bills are paid.
I get the sentiment that you should work for happiness rather than money. But it doesn't make sense that if you love knitting you would love owning a knitting supply shop. Running a business is nothing like actually knitting. You see a lot of chefs start a restaurant and they spend next to zero time creating food because all of their time is spent in the normal businessman tasks of hiring personnel , Getting supplies dealing with bureaucrats making sure you meet all the local regulations etc. etc.
Must help myself...
Doesn't matter, do it if it makes you happy.

Mumbles* I thought you like my jokes
Also I made that joke and yet I'm still adorable! I'm buying all the kinky leather stuffs!!!
And the good news is, you don't need a language degree to write books, all you need is a computer or a pen and paper!
