Almost all lists I've seen are negative, and Americans are probably the most hated tourists. I'm not being racist or anything, but from experience and from stories I've heard that is the case. I have some Canadian friends who were treated badly by staff in foreign countries because they thought they were American. That happens rarely, but lots of people assume the worst of American tourists.
I have to agree with @famousone My grandmother and a large group of extended family, all of whom are American, go on one cruise a year(to different countries) for the last 15 years and they've never been treated badly or in a rude manner.
If it's a woman it's because she doesn't want to wear her uncomfortable dress shoes while commuting. She will change in the bathroom (into heels or otherwise)...
I agree on the flats point; I generally do not want to change when arriving at work. Nor do I want to carry extra shoes. But I do want to wear the shoes that best fit my orthotics and prevent my neuroma situation!
I was born in America but spent three years in England as a young child due to my mom's work. It actually continues to affect me linguistically. Also, I'm raised by a southerner and a hill Billie, but grew up in the mid west. My family didn't come from money, but I go to a fancy private school and have just enjoyed observing their total irreverence towards the actual cost of things. Idk, I'm kind of of culturally diverse.
I'll add something to the list. List is great and my compliments for not being offensive. That's very hard. I'll add... They THINK they know how to speak native tongue, they're so "American confident" about it but they can't... "Comoe eystas siynoureyna" it's fucking annoying. Like, don't you have some Latin friends. It's not that hard to learn. While we're at Latin, educated professors are also dildos. It's not "Taybuela rayzah", it's "Thaboola rraza". You're a Latin teacher fuck crying out loud. :)
Accents aren't that easy to get rid of. Especially if you didn't grow up speaking the language, your brain literally isn't wired to pick up all the subtle sound differences.
That's why some Asians mix up the L sound and the R sound. They literally can't hear the difference.
It's nice to know how others view us
I want a longer list
