Imo, it would be wrong to try to stop anyone from smoking recreationally.
People just wanna own each other like they do other animals.
It's absolutely disgusting...
Unless for medical reasons I see no other reason to useing it. The only weed that should be legal is the kind that will not get you high.
If people are going to sit there and argure with me about why it should be legal because it will help people with health problems butturns out they just want to do it for recreational use and not be scared they'll go to jail than that is bullshit. Because if that is the real reason than lets make crack legal to hell lets make all the drugs legal. O my favorite argument people use is "Oh but think of all the money used on people in jail just for have having or selling weed." Are you fucking serious? Most the people in jail for weed is not for weed. Weed was all they could stick on them. OR they were selling it and they would of been selling crack if they could of figured out how to make it.
Look if you need weed I'm perfectly fine with it if you are a newborn to 100+ I don't care. But if you just WANT it than grow up you dont deserve it.
O and don't try that "Oh but it can be used to make so many things." Yes it can and guess what it does not need to be legal to public to make them. So you lose there.
But it's a gateway to things that can and will permanently damage a person. You can say "weed doesn't harm" and you're correct but it's what comes after weed that's a problem. We have no tolerance drug laws for a reason this stuff goes 0-100 way too quickly, and it brings down more than just the user.
No it's what I've seen. I go to NA/AA meetings ever week with my mother for years. Peoples lives are destroyed because of this shit. I've heard stories of what people will do once addicted and it's truly terrifying. One woman let her drug dealer rape her kids so she could get drugs.
Yes it is! Go to local NA meetings and ask them! Most will tell you it all started with marijuana and then they wanted the bigger better high that was just like the first and so they started chasing it. They'd use new types of weed and when that doesn't work they'd go to whatever else they could get their hands on.
It is all their fault not the laws. If prison is so bad than I will give you a little tip that came from a great movie.
"Liar Liar"
"STOP BREAKING THE LAW ASSHOLE!"
I can tell you're grasping at straws with this new argument. But this isn't trying to control someone's life, this is trying to save it before they irreparably damage it. America doesn't promise you complete freedom or else we'd be an anarchy with a pure capatialist economy. And you better be damn thankful it ain't that way ya stoner! If it was the way you wish our glorious country would be the purge 24/7 and good luck getting your weed in the midst of gun fire
Look this isnt controling your life you idiot this is setting rules for a contry to live by. If we keep breaking down laws just because it makes some one happy to do it. Soon we be having a Purge every year.
Obviously you are some teenage kid who thinks only about yourself and not the big picture.
You know viccodin makes people high makes them feel good. Yet we don't sell that on every street cornor. Why do you think that?
Its because it is a drug that should only be used when needed.
There is not one single argument you can say that will prove you NEED to have weed as a recreational drug.
The funniest things I've read on this comment chain are that
- marijuana "is not an addictive substance."
- "This Is America!"
Almost anything can be addictive, from abstract concepts (like escapism) to physical substances (like alcoholic beverages). To claim that drugs of all things is not addictive is ignoring medical research and the fact that humans have the ability to be excessively attached to virtually anything. If you're not addicted to it, good for you! But someone else might be hopelessly caught, and that's kind of when you know you need to stop.
The statement that America is a "free country" is a joke. We are not a democratic nation, we are a federalist democratic-republican state. We do have autonomy, but we choose representatives to express our views for us. We center power in the government, further detracting from the "democratic value of America." Yes, the United States government allows certain liberties, but at the end of the day... [con't]
[con't] ... there are regulations, there are punishments, and there are security measures meant to ensure that the vast majority of citizens can enjoy as much general freedoms without burdening another's freedoms. Unfortunately, I don't recall there being any statement in the Constitution or federal law explicitly mentioning the freedom to do whatever you want.

I just don't see any reason to have weed be illegal, it's legal where I live and we're still doing fine, in many cases even better than the US

I say decriminalise all drugs and just regulate it, edutcate people on the dangers instead of just going "IT IS EVIL AND YOU WILL GO TO JAIL" and treat addicted people like patients instead of prisoners

Besides, banning something won't make it go away. Republicans love to use that logic when it comes to gun control, and I agree; banning shit won't make it go away, so why ban weed?
Well banning crack isnt making it go away should we make it legal to. Hay murder is banned yet it wont go away either lets make that legal. O and how about robbery or how about we just make this a law free country and live without any laws because obivously banning stuff doesn't make it go away.
.
The reason why we "ban" things is not to make it go away. It is to give the people who don't break the law justice. Let me put it this way. A man makes weed in a state where it is legal to buy, sell, and use weed. Now because of him being a single person who is not all that educated in growing the stuff he stupidly sells a sick plant to other people. This can make people extremely sick.
But if there is a law we can catch this guy and put him in jail for making people sick.
Now if we "just make it all legal cause we can't make it go away" he gets to walk free and the people are told it was their fault for taking it.
There is more to law than "LETS MAKE IT ALL LEGAL"

Actions like murder and robbery are not akin to the consumption of certain substances. The former harm other people, the latter only harm the person consuming said substances. As for your example, instead of jailing the man, why not EDUCATE him about how to safely grow his product, or, better yet, have the government regulate what he does or take over his business or whatever. Why not have quality control like they have for alcohol? Why do we have to ban things when we can regulate them? If it works here, why wouldn't it work in your country?
O but you said just make it legal. That means everything, regulating it means it isn't completely legal. So which do you want it to just be legal or do you want it to be restricted? Like it already is? See in many states it is already restricted to that only people who have a license can grow and sell yet people still sell it illegally and go to jail for it. But you think they shouldn't so that isn't making it ALL legal.
SO WHICH IS IT? Make it ristricted or legal?

I mean regulated in the same way that alcohol is regulated: you can start a business selling/ producing it if you want, but the government is gonna make sure you're doing it properly and not hrming anyone. And I know I'm probably not using the correct terms for any of this, but I don't know any jargon for law stuff and English is my second language
Hello there. I find myself getting involved. Marijuana has been something I've smoked in the past. Quite a few times, actually, for a few years I no longer smoke it, but that doesn't mean I'm fully against it. Also, I never did any other drug. So to say it is a gateway drug may be a biy off-kilter for some people. Hell, I've seen most people have worse withdrawals from caffeine over marijuana. If it can be used in the proper doses, and places at the same legal standards as alcohol, which has caused more deaths a year than pot has... then by all means, legalize it and regulate it.
Ok first of all, the only reason cannabis is illegal is politics. In the 1930s Harry Anslinger and William Randolph Hearst perpetrated a smear campaign on cannabis to protect their investments in timber. They started calling it marijuana and used racism and distrust of Mexico and Mexican Americans to taint public view of the plant. It was not even commonly smoked recreationally at the time. Saying things like "most marijuana smokers are negroes, Hispanics and Filipinos," or that "marijuana causes ehite women to seek sexual relations with negroes or others" as well as falsely advertising horrific effects claiming the plant produces in its users insanity, criminality and death, or that smoking a joint will make you likely to kill your brother. Cannabis was also targeted by pharmaceutical and petrochemical companies because people could grow it themselves. Hemp was a strong competitor to wood and petroleum which would have been more efficient, more yielding, and entirely more sustainable.
Even Henry Ford used hemp plastic, and not metal on his first model t; it was stronger against impact. He also envisioned his cars running on hemp fuel, which was an incredible threat to petroleum. Anslinger and Hearst used their political power and media reach to perpetrate one of the world's most effective and long lasting smear campaign s to ultimately outlaw cannabis and hemp to protect their profits and the corrupt industries they were invested in. When the prohibition bill was presented on the house floor, a member of the hearing committee lied about the American Medical Association being in support of the bill to get it to pass. The marijuana tax act was created and put into effect by corrupt men with their own financial agendas, not to protect the American people. If this bill hadn't come to pass, we might be living in a world free of dependency on gasoline or lumber. Imagine all the oil that has been dumped in the ocean and all the forests that have been cut down. All of that
Could've been prevented if the hemp industry was not stomped out. And as far as recreational use, cannabis is far less damaging, long term and short than legal drugs like tobacco and alcohol. It is also less impairing than alcohol and less addictive than both. Anyone that says "it's a gateway drug" has been conditioned to think that way by propaganda the past 70 years have been flooded with in order to blind us from the truth. Cannabis is an incredibly effective medicine for many conditions and diseases and is a much safer form of recreation than many of the legal options today. And hemp can ve made into thousands of products which could make it into a revolutionary sustainable resource that can be used in countless industries from fuel and paper to clothing and construction, even food. Stop believing everything you're told.
“I wonder why”??? Because the international pharmaceutical conglomerates, owned by the illuminati, have the fear of losing their profits when it is made legal, they need to continue to sell their poisons, they are not interested in healing people, they are only interested in customers until they pass-on.
I believe if they t, the growers, can remove the THC and increase the CBD then it should be legal everywhere. It is the mind-altering effect of THC that is bad. I can not say from personal use as the 2 times I tried it I went to sleep within 1 mintue and slept for over 10 hours. I ask a doctor about this and he said that I should never try it again as it was a sure way to die for me.

That's complete bullshit, unless you are allergic to some substance in weed you won't die from it, and if you are you wouldn't go to sleep, you'd get an allergic reaction
