Yeah, it's like an EXTREME amount, because we eat such incredible masses of meat, that there are no chances that we could plant the food for the animals in our own country. And I just always read thoughts bashing vegans, when actually what they're doing is pretty good for the world we live in. I'm not a vegan myself, I eat meat occasionally and I'm firmly convinced that if we would try to see meat as a luxury again, instead of something that just is there, in the end effect, it would help the animals, our environment and nature, help preserve different species, reduce climate change and strengthen human rights. Not everyone needs to be vegan, or even vegetarian...but if everyone was just a little more aware of things...
if meat was a rarity we would become less healthy as a species. people in the past who lived before meat was widely commercially available lived shorter lives, were weaker, and even shorter. the methods for mass meat production can be kinda messed up but it keeps people healthier and generally happier, so
I mean i won't try to stop you if you want to go vegan, or vegetarian, or want to eat less meat for reasons stated in your comment, but the substitutes for meat just aren't substantial or plentiful enough to replace it on any significant scale.
yet
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Meat keeps some people healthier, but with obesity rates the way they are, I'd say we could stand to replace a lot of meat with fruits and veggies. Like everything, there's a balance to be found. Also, plants take less water, space, time, and resources to produce than meat, because you have to first grow food to feed your food.
We should switch to Bison and just let them roam free like before (at least in the US).... Bison burgers are danker anyway.. and they won't fuck with all that corn..
Brazil needs to get on caiman, anaconda or some sort of bird instead of beef.
wrecked in the face. Ironically, if they chop down the amazon, it'll all just become a desert... the only reason it thrives is because it can create it's own rainfall cycle due to the Andes. No trees releasing evaporation = no rain = desert.
While the above is 90% correct, a lot of the rain-forest is being chopped down for beef... so. I'm just saying.
