It's not like the mentality doesn't stop you from pursuing things, and making something of yourself, it just means you aren't carrying around an ignorant sense of false hope that may cause you to be very heart broken in the future
I am very satisfied with me, my life, my friends and family, my personality. I'm positive that I'll lead a mostly happy life. But having been on earth long enough to see all the bad in it - murder, pollution, rape, wars and whatnot - I'm realistic enough to say that the world won't get a lot better or that humanity will improve it. We're 7 billions. Even if the biggest part of us is good at heart, the rest is still enough to seriously fuck shit up. I stopped being a dreamer concerning this point.
People who say "that attitude" piss me off. The reason you have your attitude is because of your experiences and psychological profile affecting your perception of reality, which is the same reason they have theirs. It's not a choice you make
So you're saying that people dont have a choice of weather or not to change? I dont buy it. I dont accept the idea that i'm not able to influence my own attitude! I'm sure not suggesting that I have 100% control over it, but i damn sure have a say in it.

People can change, but most won't, thats that's the problem. We work as a majority and as a whole, so the countless amount of people who are bringing us down, most likely won't stop
With all due respect, you guys should get off the internet for a while. Theres a big exciting world out there full of amazing people. The internet is packed full of gloom and doom but its just not true.

"Oh wow just because you are on the internet sometimes and try to have a more realistic outlook on the world instead of a ditzy, delusional, false optimism, you probably don't get out much"
I get out as much as any normal person and that doesn't change much, it probably makes it worse in fact. Because inside you can sit and pretend these people don't exist and everything is great, but outside I come face to face and interact with the kind of people who are bringing this world down. And no, I don't live in some rural neighborhood, where everyone is a drug dealer, I live in a fairly small town that is very safe and protected
There are bad people everywhere and there's nothing we can do about it
So I am a delusional, unrealistically optimistic, naive idiot. Thank you @third that's why I like you! At least you get it all out there. No shade with you! <3
Concerning myself. I guess that's not strictly accurate, as I frequently feel I'm the only intelligent person online, but I don't derive any satisfaction from it or seek it, or anything else out. I certainly don't feel "special" and have neither need or wish to.
Yep, thanks to stuff like this. As you may have noticed, had you read my comment carefully, I said I do, in fact, consider myself more intelligent than most. Though perhaps I misunderstood by what you meant with "special," again, I do not derive satisfaction from, or seek this feeling. It's just my opinion. In any case, am certainly different from most others.
@silvermyth nope. Didn't expect it at all. And the like was someone else.
@mandyfr33gordon I enjoy most music, though I don't get "moved" or anything by it, and there are things that excite me, just less of them, and typically less so than most.
Hey, does anybody know wtf this flag is on my post?

So personal philosophy time... I'm of the belief that humans could potientally improve the world, but that the chances of that happening in the long term is greatly outweighed by the human potential to destroy everything we have created and more. I also happen to believe that a large percent of people are generaly bad, or at least selfish or jelous or greedy and short sighted enough to monumentally screw up our planet. It kinda sucks when you want people to succeed so much it hurts but you don't think that they could ever be good enough to do so. Anyways, I know that there are *probably* a lot of spelling mistakes here, but please ignore them in favor of the point, if you read this at all. This is depressing
I agree, it is depressing from this angle, for me it's because of how overwhelming it all seems, the amount of cooperation between people and patience and hope that it would take seems hopeless because there seems to be much more opposition. But then I still want to try. That gives me hope.
