While gender and sex are technically the same thing its mostly based on society or cute in one lives in. For example, gender can be more be placed in accordance to what a person identifies as whether it be man or woman but sex is what your DNA states what you are.
So yore saying theres a difference between how a person is biologically male or female and the expectations society has for that person? So there is a difference between sex and gender...
No, there is no difference between sex and gender, and culture doesn't determine either, culture only determines how a male or female is treated within the confines of that society.
Yes guest, there is a difference but what I meant from there the same is by the subject itself dealing with female and male counterparts. Exactly Mr chakun culture expects what a man and woman should do, the acceptance of the society. I don't want to come off as ignorant but my point being is that on a biological stand point is your DNA, is what determines what you are. That is what the word gender means. But of course today's society accepts your gender identity, nothing wrong with that.
DNA determines sex. There is a scale of personality traits DNA can also represent, but there is no such thing as a "male-mind" gene the same way there is a Y chromosome.
Your DNA may provide you with an over-abundance or under-abundance of testosterone, estrogen, dopamine, serotonin or what the hell ever... no "gender" can claim a ratio of them all... it's an infinite scale even though you have ratios that appear more consistently between sexes. The whole gender thing literally boils down to your brain and hormones. There is an infinite range and is a stupid subject. Do you have a dick? OK you're a guy... you may think more like a girl, that's fucking fine, but you are a guy. Do you have a vagina? OK fine, you may think more like a guy because your hormone balance lines up more like the "average" male does.
Look at the average male and the average female... do they look like ripped NBA players or supermodels? FUCK NO. Those are the anomalies at the other end of the curve...
Most NBA players have an abnormal amount of natural testosterone for example.
The problem is society. Society is saying you aren't a women if you aren't "such and don't think such", which then makes someone who doesn't think like that at all question what the hell they are.
This is a really fucking stupid problem to have.

Where exactly do biology and gender studies disagree? (Well-meant hint: try not to embarrass yourself by stating some sub junior-high "facts")
Its a hypothetical question hence the word assume.

*sigh* and where would they hypothetically disagree? I assume this guy just wanted to randomly bash what he misunderstands to be gender studies. Hypothetically speaking of course hence I can't be criticized, amrite?
You seem to be posting looking for a fight or debate or whatever you want to call it, but I truly don't give a fuck about this topic so I'm going to pass. Have a good night.

What's wrong with looking for a debate? Why do you post anyway when you don't give a fuck about it?
Why are you downvoting him? It's true. And even when biology touches gender, it's in compliance with current scientific thinking, which states that gender is a social construct. You can believe what you like but CURRENT SCIENTIFIC THINKING IS THAT GENDER IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT

To be honest, that's about the percentage who believe you either are or aren't male or female. It's just the "gender fluid" people are more vocal and more bullyish.
Right so this is my thoughts on this pile of crap
So seriously Biology has a decent rep and is pretty good 99% of the time
Gender Studies also has a leg to stand on here but Biology would cover Gender and GS would cover Biology here
No. Gender and sex are the same thing. Unless you get into grammar and languages. Then gender can mean masculine, feminine, neutral. Anything beyond these two definitions is just made up nonsense.
It depends on who you talk to. Definition is somewhat hazy, especially with changing times and language. If we are talking about languages, I can point at the moon and say it's a feminine. It doesn't have a vagina. People say it's feminine because it has feminine characteristics. It's nice to look at. Go to another language, they will say it is maskuline.
The idea goes that sex what pertains to sex. Your hormones, your body, and organs. That gender is the social thing; that boys are blue and play with cars, and girls are pink and play with dolls. Go back a few years, and pink is boys and blue is girls. Aren't "action figures" dolls in essence? Yes, but boys play with them because it's somehow different.
The debate really boils down to what your definition of gender and sex are. For many, they are the same. For others, they're slightly different.
