As a woman I wouldn't mind fighting for a spot with men. I wouldn't expect to be let in first. BUT I expect my son or any other child to be put first. They're the future.
I would put children first after that we'd have to see. I know that the Titanic, if it actually was the Titanic there is some debate about that, wasn't equipped with enough lifeboats. However, many were also launched while completely under capacity. They could hold 20 people each, more if you put the children together, yet many were launched with under half that.
I would let children go ahead, because they are the future and have a full life ahead of them, but if men and women are equal, I would not give up my spot for a woman.
Thing is, women are less "replacable" than men. If a village consists of 10 men and 10 women, it's far more disastrous if 5 women die than if 5 men die. This, along with the fact that men are typically physically stronge, is part of the reason why men traditionally are the combatants, they're more expendable.
Of course, in an event like the Titanic, the people that died didn't have any negative effect on the continuation of the human race, so in such a small scale it doesn't matter at all and men and women should have equal chances of getting on a boat
I was raised to have honor so yes children first then woman then men and you fight for woman and children. Any man that has no honor and takes their seat gets tossed overboard. Its like if you see some one trying to kidnap a child you step. In if he has a knife of gun so be it I'd rather die fighting then live the life of a coward. But I was raised in a different time. Things like its not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country had meaning. Now a days the slogan is what's in it for me. Sad times we live in When selfish greedy and cowardly is the norm.

Which is why it's good to rise above that, it takes strength to do so
I support the best candidate. it was president trump this time not because he is a great guy. Because I feel he is trying to do the best for the country.
This is where women and children first started.
