I can relate to the hot oil one, I had a splash back making french fries last night for myself, have a sizable burn on my lower arm, almost spans from my elbow to my wrist.
@kakaburra, do NOT put ice on a burn, uou want to run it under cool water. Ice can shock the area, damaging the skin and even potentially caising frost bite due to the shifting in extreme temperatures
People have their reasons, especially if this is America. That money could pay for college tuition, food expenses, healthcare, gas, or even mortgage and utilities.
I had to Google it, but nap... Apparently, it's fine:
"... As a general rule, the FLSA sets 14 years of age as the minimum age for employment, and limits the number of hours worked by minors under the age of 16... "
It always startles me when people think under 16 is too young to work (although it does make me question the laws of my province that I was raised with). In Alberta, you can legally work when you're 12 - though most places have their own policies regarding age and hire 14 and up, or so. 12 year olds can only work up to 2 hours a day on a weekday though. I forget how much on weekends. They told us this in the first year of jr high school though, when most of us were 12 going on 13.
