Every thing has it's ups and downs. 98% percent of dogs are friendly, loyal, etc. There are some aggressive species out there which, if not trained properly can be really violent. Also we don't know the circumstances of these people's death, it can be an accident, self-defence, rage attack,etc.
All in all, if an owner trains a dog properly, the dog will behave properly. Dogs are just like kids. If you raise them right, they will go on a right path.
