I would watch the fuck out of this.
Also fun times: I bought Brokeback Mountain a few years ago because I liked the cover and didn't really pay attention to the story. So I put the dvd on and watched it with my whole family and oh boy did that movie slap me in the face. My mom and dad litteraly slowly turned to me horrified and my sister couldn't stop laughing
I understand wanting to have more female and minority protagonists in movies, books, series etc. Seeing white dudes as the heroes, women as the useless damsels in distress/hot trophies for the male hero, and minorities as the disposable sidekicks/comic relief does get boring sooner or later, not to mention it perpetuates pretty bad stereotypes which then influence society's perception of itself.
But rebooting movies and just putting women as main characters seems completely unoriginal and unimaginative to me. How about you just write a good movie with female and minority protagonists? Why do you have to copy someone's work and then take credit for it because you included minorities and women? It just seems really lazy and greedy to me.
This is fake I know, but lesbians don't get as much representation as they should and I think it'd be a cool idea. Not to reboot it though. I don't like reboots in general lol.
